Brooke Shields Poses Topless At 56, Proving Sexy Has No Age Limit

Brooke Shields has been behind the camera since she was a baby, as both an actress and model, but it’s now that she seems to be, in many ways, in her prime. More than 40 years after her iconic Calvin Klein ads, Shields is modeling a new pair of jeans and sending a powerful message about aging in the process.

The 56-year-old star has partnered with Jordache for its Spring 2022 campaign, shot by prominent celebrity photographer Cass Bird. For one of the campaign images, Shields was photographed topless, wearing only a pair of jeans, an opportunity she described as a “privilege.”

“There’s something about owning your sexuality at this age that is on point for where we are today. It’s not angry empowerment,” she told People in an exclusive interview, adding that she trusted that the photos would be done tastefully and wouldn’t be exploited.

It’s also important to note that Shields was adamant that the photos in the campaign remain authentic, with no retouching. “It was important for you to see this is my 56-year-old body and to fight the retouching,” Shields says of the shoot, styled by Deborah Watson. “I’m always like, ‘You better keep it honest.’ And we did.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Shields has chosen to show off her sexiness in an attempt to remind others that you should embrace your sexuality no matter your age. This seems to be a personal mission for Shields, and she recently founded an online community, Beginning Now, which works to push back against ageism, body shaming, and unrealistic standards of beauty.

In 2020, Shields began modeling again after signing with IMG Models, and if this campaign is any indication of what’s to come, Shields’ best work does, in fact, seem to be beginning now. Speaking to People about the opportunity to model at her age, she said, “I appreciate it more now.”

“It’s such an honor to be my age and be represented. I feel the magnitude of it more. There’s a knowledge that comes with age, and this feels less like a job and more like a privilege.”
