Home decor is forever evolving, but there’s one design category that’s held its ground for literally centuries. We’re talking about statues. From handsome busts to brass figurines to pop art-inspired sculptures, the statue art trend is definitely thriving right now. According to 1stDibs, a design marketplace, 48 percent of 750 worldwide design professionals surveyed said they planned to use more sculptures to decorate.
“This trend can be incorporated into any space,” says interior designer Anna Franklin, owner of Stone House Collective. “It’s an artful statement that transitions gracefully out of museums and into the home.” She says these pieces work best as secondary accent pieces versus focal points. (Unless, of course, it’s an enormous piece with deep meaning that you want to boldly display.)
Instead, incorporate smaller pieces as a statement element on bookshelves, side tables, or an entryway console. Ready to lean into the trend? Scroll through and shop some designer-approved statue art below. From bust sculptures to leggy candles and vases shaped like bums, today’s trend is a playful take on Greco-Roman art.
Statue Art: 12 Sculpture, Candles, and Figurines to Add to Your Space
We’re going classic Greek with this alabaster bust from Etsy seller AncientGreekArt. “I think there is something so chic about having a bust on display in your home,” says Jaime Zehner, lead interior designer for JZ Interior Designs. “It has such a classic, museum-like feel and instantly makes your home feel elevated.” She says she envisions something like this added to bookshelves amongst books and other unique pieces and vases with flowers or offcentered on a fireplace mantle.
This minimal sculpture beautifully captures the female form while the raw texture adds depth and dimension to your space. At about 16″ in height and 8.5″ in depth, it’s not a small, “throwaway” piece, either.
Named after the Roman goddess of fire and women, Caia creates luxurious candles that draw inspiration from the female form. Hand-poured with biodegradable and vegan soy wax, this statement piece has a 45-minute burn time.
For a slicker feel with a similar shape, try this It features a fusion of matte and glossy finishes for an unexpected sense of playfulness.
If you prefer something a bit more geometrical or abstract, this wooden block sculpture from Industry West is a good choice. It somehow marries earthy and organic with a sense of upscale chicness.
Here’s another spin on a wood sculpture, only this one adds a sense of softness. It’s the perfect touch for your coffee console table. Available in both black and white wood, this rustic piece works well with modern, minimal interiors and adds instant texture.
When it comes to body art, you know it’s all about that base, and this ceramic vase will surely start a conversation when used to hold a floral arrangement or alone as a centerpiece.
Does the idea of a statue feel too grand? You’ve still got options. “I love seeing decorative busts displayed as candles, where it doesn’t feel like too big of a commitment or a stark change from your usual decor,” says Zehner. One of her favorites is this one from Anais.
Zehner also loves this subtly pink “candle” bust from Trudon, which stands at 8” high. And FYI—we wouldn’t dare actually burn it.
Simplistic, thought-provoking, and intimate in nature, this hand sculpture by Mitch Allen Interiors is giving us major “art student chic” vibes. It’s made from resin and features a semi-matte black finish.
Another simple way to incorporate the statue art trend into your home is bookends. This pair of Food Dogs—available in robin’s egg blue and creamy white—is the perfect example. Also known as Chinese lions, they’re traditionally placed in front of palaces and temples as watchguards.
Brass adds instant elegance and shimmer to a home — and they’ll stand the test of time! This duet of brass cranes feature a powder coated brass finish and work both indoors and outdoors.
