The 2020 BET Awards may have been a virtual event, but that didn't stop celebs from showing up dressed to impress, and rightfully so. It was a big night for the network, marking the 40th anniversary of Black Entertainment Television and the 20th anniversary of the award ceremony celebrating black culture. So there was no shortage of appearances (and performances!) by Hollywood's hottest stars serving lewks from home. From host Amanda Seales to award-winners Lizzo and Beyoncé to performers like Jennifer Hudson (just wow!), here are our favorite looks from the 2020 BET Awards virtual ceremony.
Tracee Ellis Ross
The actress and hair-care entrepreneur stunned with a beautifully bare face, hot pink lip, and baby hairs laid to perfection.
Amanda Seales
The host of the 2020 BET Awards rocked a number of amazing looks throughout the night (a whopping 13 to be exact!), but she was the literal fire emoji in this “red carpet” number by Khala Whitney. Her ombré braids were styled into a crown, and the look was finished with a bold red lip to match her latex dress.
Jennifer Hudson
During her show-stopping performance of “Young, Gifted, and Black,” Jennifer Hudson wore a custom, emerald green gown by Reem Acra and matching winged green eyeliner.
Megan Thee Stallion
The rapper accepted the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist looking super chic in a black cut-out velvet dress from black-owned brand Grayscale. Her hair was styled sleek and straight, and her sultry makeup look was finished with a deep red lip.
Nomzamo Mbatha
One word: WOW! The actress and activist turned heads while presenting the ‘Best New International’ award. She wore a LBD with an embellished bow by Cavanagh Baker, and accessorized with big hoop earring that complemented her short hairstyle.
Beyoncé
Queen Bey accepted the Humanitarian Award at this year's BET Awards and looked peak glam in a strapless bustier and crystal choker, with her signature long 'bronde' strands parted down the middle, during her powerful speech.
Alicia Keys
For her performance at the 2020 BET Awards, we were surprised to see the singer wearing more makeup than usual, but it was her super-cool hairstyle that really caught our attention. Her strands were pulled back, revealing geometrically patterned sides and swooping baby hairs.
Karen Clark Sheard
The gospel singer stunned in elegant black gown and matching fascinator while closing the show with a performance of “Something Has to Break,” alongside her daughter Kierra Sheard.
Summer Walker
For her performance with Usher, Summer Walker wore her hair in high-set pigtails with spiral curls and super-straight bangs. It was the perfect hairstyle to pair with her pink babydoll dress.
Claire Sulmers
The entrepreneur joined a Pre-BET Awards show Style Chat with Fashion Bomb Daily and her look certainly didn't disappoint. She tuned into the interview wearing a white blazer dress by Haus Of Shea with crystal embellishments and feather sleeves; her blonde braids were pulled up into a bun showing off her smokey eye look.
Lizzo
The “Truth Hurts” singer didn't come to play. While accepting the award for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, she wore glamorous black velvet Monôt gown with a white iridescent ruffle. Her voluminous, crimped strands were pulled into a high ponytail, and her makeup was simple yet radiant.
Chloe X Halle
Another must-see performance from the night, Chloe x Halle sported matching hairstyles, braided and pulled into a high-ponytail, with '90s-style makeup in a look that was very reminiscent of Destiny's Child.
