Drew Barrymore may hold many roles, including actress, author, talk show host, and entrepreneur, but her favorite role by far is mom. And in celebration of Mother’s Day, she got a new tattoo that’s dedicated to her two daughters, Olive and Frankie.

For an episode of her talk show, which aired on May 6, Barrymore asked tattoo artist and Ink Master alum Ryan Ashley to design her new tattoo. “I may be getting a new tattoo on @thedrewbarrymoreshow today… tune in to see what it says!” she teased in an Instagram video that shows them going over the mock-up.

During the segment, Barrymore revealed the tattoo, which is located on her forearm. The cursive script reads “Home is where we are,” a phrase she went on to say that she came up with after becoming a mother. “I never knew what home was until I had my two daughters,” she said through tears.

“I’ve been saying it to myself for the last five years,” Barrymore explained. “If you’re somewhere on vacation, or you’re in a rental, or you’re in transition, or you have to move from one state to the next — if you’re together, that’s where home is.”

Through tears, Barrymore continued: “I thought, I’m going to make us a home that will be forever and so strong, and then life changed, our plans changed. We had to move and it all just ended up working out.

“When I was in rental apartments, or not knowing where life was going, or so upset that the plans I tried to solidify for my kids had changed, it really led to the discovery of what home really means for me — and that is if we are together, wherever we are, home is where we are.”

Barrymore also expressed that she hopes the phrase resonates with her viewers, too. “I want people to feel that no matter where they go in the world, you know, if they are lucky enough to have someone they love — not even someone to love them but someone they can give love to — that’s so fulfilling,” she said to the camera.

The new tattoo is located between a wrist tattoo of both of her daughters’ names and another forearm design of a bird, both of which she previously had done.

This isn’t the first time Barrymore has opened up about the joys of motherhood, and as mentioned above, it’s not her first tattoo dedicated to her daughters. When it comes to parenting, she can’t help but gush over her girls.

“I thought I knew what love was, but holy cow, I did not,” she says. “I could never have imagined the kind of love I have for my children. I am who I am because of my two daughters,” she told Good Housekeeping in 2016. Barrymore shares her children with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, who she split with in 2016 after four years of marriage.

On Sunday, Barrymore shared a sweet Instagram post for Mother’s Day. “And the fact that I get to be a mom too now… well its the most important thing I have ever done or will ever have the privilege of doing with my life. My Olive and my Frankie. I love you bigger than the universe,” she captioned the carousel of beautiful images with her daughters.
