As the days get shorter and the nights get colder, fall descends upon us with colored leaves and warm sweaters. For many, while fall can be full of love and comfort, it is also an omen for winter, darkness, and sometimes seasonal depression. Instead of falling into a slump, try to be proactive this year and embrace some fun fall activities that get you excited about the current and upcoming seasons. Check out these six fun options below.
6. Go for a Hike

Starting our list of fall activities is going for a hike. As the temperature falls and the leaves turn, it’s the perfect time to go outside and breathe in the crisp air. Physical movement and fresh air are both great for your body, and just taking a moment to embrace the changing of the seasons by appreciating the fall leaves is a great way to improve your mood. Plus, you could go with friends or family and spread the fall excitement.
5. Read a Book (or Many)

Fifth on our list of fall activities is reading a book, or maybe a bunch of books. While it’s nice to get out in the crisp air, there are also advantages to staying inside. Reading a book is a great way to get away from all the commotion on social media or on a screen, and take a moment to just be in the moment, or escape to a fictional world. While horror books or Halloween-themed ones fit the season, reading any book is a great way to chase off seasonal depression.
4. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Next on our list of fall activities is going to a pumpkin patch. Similar to taking a hike, going to pick out pumpkins can get you into the crisp air. Plus, pumpkin patches are often full of fun activities to explore, from corn mazes to hay rides, and all the products you can buy. After picking a pumpkin, the real fun begins, whether you decide to carve a design into the pumpkin or paint a design on the surface.
3. Binge-watch Halloween Movies

Rounding out the top three fall activities is binge-watching Halloween movies. Whether it’s straight horror, comedy, or a blend of the two, having a movie marathon is a great way to get into the spooky season. While it may not be the best choice physically, just taking a moment to relax and enjoy a film is important to your mental health. Plus, you could turn it into a whole movie night with friends and Halloween-themed drinks and food for more fun.
2. Decorate Your Home

Second on our list of fall activities is decorating your home. While not everyone is crazy about decorating, sometimes it’s a fun way to get into the season and pull out cute trinkets and garland to wrap around every bare inch. Plus, there are three different events you can decorate for: fall, Halloween, or Thanksgiving. Change it up for each event, or just do a blend of all three. You choose!
1. Go Apple Picking

Last but not least on our list of fall activities is going apple picking. A staple of fall, apple picking is similar to picking pumpkins and hiking by getting outside in the fresh air. There are tons of orchards to choose from, which feature all varieties of apples and apple-themed snacks like donuts, slushies, and more. After you get the apples home, make all sorts of homemade goodies, like apple pie, crisp, sauce, etc.
