Khloé Kardashian’s appearance has been under scrutiny for years. In part two of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion, which aired on Sunday, June 20, the reality star opened up about how the show has affected her self-image, and for the first time, she responded to all the plastic surgery speculation.
With every photo she posts, Khloé’s followers seem to respond by accusing the star of going under the knife to alter her facial features. “What the hell did u do to your face?” one fan commented on an Instagram photo she posted back September, and that is just one example of the harsh comments she often receives.
So, when KUWTK reunion host Andy Cohen asked Khloé to respond to an untrue rumor, she took the opportunity to hit back at people who say she’s had a “face transplant” and revealed exactly what plastic surgery procedures she’s had done.
“For me, everyone says, ‘Oh, my gosh, she’s had her third face transplant.’ But I’ve had one nose job—Dr. Raj Kanodia… ” Khloé confirmed during the reunion. “Everyone gets so upset. Like, why don’t I talk about it? No one’s ever asked me. You’re the first person in an interview that’s ever asked me about my nose.”
She added: “I’ve done, sure, injections. Not really Botox. I’ve responded horribly to Botox.” Though she didn’t elaborate, cosmetic injections, or dermal fillers, are used to smooth lines and wrinkles or to add volume to areas like the lips and cheeks.
Khloé went on to explain how the show, which followed the famous family for 20 seasons, has affected her self-esteem over the years. “When the show first started, I was very secure — very secure,” she said. “And then, during the first couple seasons, I became insecure because of the public opinions of myself.”
She continued, telling Cohen how her confidence has yo-yoed over the years, adding that she has recently started feeling insecure again. “I guess it just goes, you know, up and down,” she said.
The reason for this, Khloé explained, is that her sisters, Kim and Kourtney, always seemed to receive preferential treatment because of their looks, especially in the early days of filming. “It was never a question. It was fact,” she said. “And it was very blatant.”
“We did so many photoshoots where they would receive racks and racks of clothes,” she continued. “And I was told by so many different stylists, I was given about two or three pieces of clothing but not to worry because I would be in the background anyway.”
This isn’t the first time Khloé has opened up about her insecurities. After an unedited photo of the star was accidentally shared in April, her team worked overtime to have it scrubbed from the internet, a decision she later defended.
“In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule, and judgment my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear. ‘Khloé is the fat sister.’ ‘Khloé is the ugly sister.’ ‘Her dad must not be her real dad because she looks so different.’ ‘The only way she could have lost that weight must have been from surgery,'” she said. “I’m not going to lie. It’s almost unbearable trying to live up the impossible standards that the public have all set for me.”
“For over a decade now in photos, every single flaw and imperfection has been micro-analyzed and made fun of to the smallest detail and I am reminded of them everyday by the world,” Khloé continued. “And when I take that criticism to use as motivation to get myself in the best shape of my life and to even help others with the same struggles, I am told I couldn’t have done it through hard work and I must have paid for it all.”
