After six years of marriage, Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce from Kanye West on February 19. Though there has been a lot of speculation over their troubled relationship in the past year, with sources saying the divorce was imminent, the high-profile couple have kept the details of their split relatively private.
But now Kim is finally opening up about her separation from West, saying she has felt “stuck for years.” In a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, producers showed previously unaired footage of the reality star crying to her sisters and getting candid about her marriage struggles.
“I honestly can’t do this anymore,” Kim said in the scene. “Why am I still in this, like, place where I’m stuck for years? Like, he goes and moves to a different state every year. I have to be together so I can raise the kids, you know?” However, she made it a point to add that West is an amazing father.
Kim continued, saying that West deserves someone who could support all of his goals and aspirations. “He deserves someone that can go support his every move and go follow him all over the place and move to Wyoming,” she said, wiping her tears. “I can’t do that.”
“I feel like a fucking failure that it’s, like, a third fucking marriage. I feel like a fucking loser. But I can’t even think about that. I want to be happy,” she revealed of her devastating divorce.
This was Kim’s third marriage; she was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas from 2000-2004 and basketball player Kris Humpries from 2011-2013. Kim and West married in 2014 and share four kids together: North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2.
According to a source who previously spoke with E! News, the couple simply just “grew apart.” “She tried to give it a chance,” the source said. “She wanted to do this last year. She gave it plenty of time but it’s just time to move on.”
“It’s gotten to the point where they haven’t spent time together as a married couple in months,” an insider told E! News. “They’ve seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She’s known for a while.”
Another source told Page Six that the divorce is happening because Kim has “grown up a lot,” and “she’s just had enough of it,” referring to West’s behavior. Still, those close to the couple say the split is amicable, and they are both prioritizing their children during this time.
The series finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians airs on Thursday, June 10, and Kim is expected to address her divorce in more detail then. “I think you might learn some things in the final episode [of KUWTK], I wouldn’t be surprised—although I haven’t seen the show, I do remember shooting scenes. And yeah, I think it should be pretty interesting,” Caitlyn Jenner told Access Hollywood.
