Congratulations are in order for Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, who have welcomed their first child together. Just days after confirming their pregnancy news during a stand-up performance in Connecticut on Sunday, Jost took to Instagram to announce the birth of their baby, a son named Cosmo.
“Ok ok we had a baby. His name is Cosmo. We love him very much,” Jost wrote. No other details as to when the baby was born or how the newborn is doing were shared. He went on to say “privacy would be greatly appreciated” at this time.
The comedian also added the hashtag #wegotawaywithitforalongtime to the caption, referring to how the couple was able to keep Johansson’s pregnancy a secret for so long. Their covertness seems to have worked, as fans seem genuinely surprised in the comment section.
The actress first sparked pregnancy rumors in June when she failed to appear at any in-person promotional events for her latest role, Black Widow. “She has been keeping a very low profile,” a source told PageSix at the time.
Johansson and Jost, a comedian and writer for SNL, married in an intimate ceremony back in October 2020. They got engaged in May 2019 after two years of dating.According to Life & Style magazine, the pair were set up on a date by SNL costar Kate McKinnon in the spring of 2017.
“What you see is what you get with him,” Johansson said of Jost in a 2020 interview with Parade. “He’s very optimistic, easygoing, funny, nice, and those are the qualities that really drew me to him.”
This is the second child for Johansson, who has daughter Rose Dorothy, 7, with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac. According to sources close to the couple, Jost is wonderful stepfather who loves spending time with Rose.
“It’s strange because a switch kind of flipped for me – I don’t know – a year or two ago or something. It’s definitely on my mind,” the writer told USA Today of fatherhood in July. “It’s gonna be, I’m sure, very challenging, but I also think it could be really fun.”
