Sylvester Stallone may be almost 80 years old, but that’s not stopping him from prioritizing his fitness. The “Rocky” star still puts in many hours at the gym, showing off his physique in a rare and honest gym video.

Not only does he discuss the work put into having a physique like his, but the toll aging has on working out.

Sylvester Stallone’s Post

The Instagram video showed Sylvester Stallone in his workout clothes, showing off his fitness results while also panning around to the gym equipment, featuring some heavy punching bags. The perfect workout equipment for the Rocky star.

In the background, Stallone says, “I haven’t done a video from the gym in a long time, but you know, it’s kind of like, in a way a sanctuary, a church, where you pray to get better, to feel better physically. So you have the strength to arrive at your goals really confident and ready to face any challenge. Anyway, keep punching.”

Along with his voiceover, Stallone added a caption to the post, sharing, “every year it gets harder and harder, but that’s why you gotta push harder and harder. blood sweat and tears.”

It’s important to note that Stallone recently underwent back surgery, which is why he appeared with a cane at the red carpet for the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors.

Fan’s Response

Fans were quick to shower praise on the aging actor, with the Instagram post reaching over 320,000 likes.

A fellow actor and friend related to Stallone’s feelings about the gym, stating, “It’s like a church for me as well. Physically, mentally and spiritually improves my life! Having spent time around you I’ve seen the physical benefits as we age!”

One fan commented on the post, saying, “We’d be lucky to look like Sly at his age.” Another wrote: “Leading by example!! Looking great, Sly!”

Not only has the response garnered praise for Stallone, but ushered in a widespread conversation about fitness longevity.

Staying Consistent

While Stallone has not publicly shared his workout routine, some videos feature heavy punching bags or him doing pullups with a 100-lb. weight attached to his body. Just those two examples prove the 79-year-old actor’s routines are far from easy.

However, his posts don’t focus on aesthetics or intensity, but rather consistency. Being able to get into the gym each day and push yourself is something we all should follow, especially as many New Year’s Resolutions get pushed to the wayside around this time of year.

While training has long been a huge part of Stallone’s life, it seems that his current workouts have dialed back on intensity. But the Rocky star is far from finished.

He will return to his role as Dwight “The General” Manfredi in Tulsa King, which was renewed for a fourth season.
