Halloween may have looked different this year due to the pandemic, but it didn't stop celebrities from getting creative. Whether they were trick-or-treating with family or dressing up for festive photoshoots, many celebs pulled out all the stops to create some over-the-top costumes—and per usual, they didn't disappoint! From timely pop culture references, including Joe Exotic, WAP, and the debate fly (who didn't see that one coming?), to super-detailed classics like mummies and aliens, here are the best celebrity Halloween costumes from 2020.

Heidi Klum is the Queen of Halloween, and even though she wasn't able to throw her annual, star-studded bash this year, Klum's creativity didn't disappoint. In an Instagram video released Saturday morning to her social media, the supermodel tries to convince her family that staying home on Halloween will be just as fun. They start with elaborate mummy costumes, a playful nod to the toilet paper sales earlier this year, and later Klum disguises herself in her home, blending into a wall and bedspread to hide.

Kim Kardashian
Just look at all these cool cats and kittens. Kim Kardashian and her longtime friend, Jonathan Cheban, pulled off what was perhaps the year's most popular costume: the stars of Tiger King. Kardashian went as Carole Baskin, Cheban as Joe Exotic, and Kardashian's kids, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm West, as the tigers.

Janelle Monae
One of the many political costumes we saw this year, Janelle Monae dressed up as the “American Flycon” from the vice presidential debate. The elaborate costume was designed by @alexnavarrodesigns, @mandelkorn, and @fancyfairyangela.

Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens celebrated Halloween with a number of cool costumes, but this Black Widow look was most impressive. The actress looked scary good, with makeup by Ivan Núñez and hair by Tony Medina.

Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera's realistic alien costume was out of this world.

Halsey
The singer brought the Corpse Bride to life this Halloween. “It takes my breath away. Well it would have anyway…” she wrote on Instagram.

Lil Nas X
The “Old Town Road” rapper is unrecognizable dressed as Nicki Minaj. The highly detailed costume received rave reviews from fans of both artists.

Paris Hilton
Another Halloween queen, Paris Hilton produced a playful montage set to the iconic party scene in Mean Girls. She sports multiple costumes in the video clip, including Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, a Playboy Bunny, and Joan of Arc. But it's her Frankenstein costume we love the most.

Gabrielle Union
Gabrielle Union and her family dressed up as all the ingredients in a s'mores; she went as the Hershey chocolate bar, her husband Dwayne Wade as the graham cracker, and their daughter Kaavia as the cutest little marshmallow. “S'mores to go,” she captioned a photo of them out trick-or-treating.

Cardi B
The rapper sizzled in an embellished Medusa costume complete with a snake-shaped skirt.

Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen looked stunning in her Swan Lake costume.

Saweetie
Saweetie's super-detailed Mystique costume was spot-on.

Kendall Jenner
The supermodel was a bombshell dressed as Pamela Anderson from Barb Wire.

Lizzo
Lizzo paid tribute to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, dressing in a water-print bodysuit with cat ears—a cheeky interpretation of their hit song “WAP”—and posing for a sultry poolside photoshoot.

Bella Hadid
The supermodel posed in a sexy Poison costume for Halloween.

Kelly Ripa
The TV host dressed up in two pop culture costumes: Moira Rose of Schitt’s Creek and Joe Exotic of Tiger King. “How it started. How it’s going,” she captioned her Instagram post.

Neil Patrick Harris
So cute! Neil Patrick Harris and his family dressed as characters from Willy Wanka & the Chocolate Factory. “This year, may you invent an October 31st that is spirited, safe and scrumptious,” he wrote on Instagram.

Kris Jenner
The momager dressed up as a chic Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

January Jones
January Jones was a spitting image of Miss Agatha Hannigan from Annie.

Celine Dion
The legendary singer dressed up as Nanny McPhee for some family fun.
