Two weeks after sharing the news of her engagement to Blake Shelton on social media, Gwen Stefani is finally giving fans a closer look at her new ring—and wow, it’s even more spectacular than we imagined.
On Sunday, the singer showed off her engagement ring in an Instagram Story while waiting in the car outside of the People’s Choice Awards with her new fiancé, who was nominated for an award. “So basically I have to stay in the car because of COVID, but I’m here to support Blake in case he wins,” she said in the video.
While talking and gesturing to the camera, Stefani unintentionally flashes the sparkly diamond, which appears to be a large rectangular stone with tapered baguettes on either side.
Diamond experts told Page Six Style that the center diamond is likely six to 10 carats, putting its value at over half a million dollars, and it appears to be set in white gold or platinum band. “With the center stone nearly reaching Gwen’s middle knuckle, I estimate the total weight of her engagement ring to be approximately 8-10 carats at a value of $700,000-$800,000, depending on the color and clarity of the diamonds,” Katie Zimmerman, CMO at Blue Nile.
And according to Us Weekly, Shelton had the ring custom designed for his love. (The guy has good taste!) Sources told the publication that he planned a very traditional engagement, even asking Stefani’s father for her hand in marriage, and popped the question in Oklahoma where they have been spending family time during quarantine. “It meant so much to Gwen that Blake was so traditional about it,” one source added.
“Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!” Shelton wrote on Instagram following the proposal. She shared the same photo and captioned it, “Yes please!”
Stefani and Shelton dated for five years prior to getting engaged. After first meeting on The Voice as co-judges, they bonded over their respective divorces and formed an unexpected romance. This will be Stefani’s second marriage and Shelton’s third.
