Celebrities have access to some of the best skincare around — not to mention the best skincare pros — which is why we love when they give us a glimpse into their beauty routines. Last week, during a Q&A in her Instagram Stories, wellness guru Gwyneth Paltrow did just that.
When the Goop founder was asked about the skincare she uses before a big event or a photo shoot, she shared the two products she relies on to look less puffy. “I always use the Jillian Dempsey eye patches and vibrating gold bar,” she wrote. “This combo makes a huge difference in the depuffing of my skin.”
Jillian Dempsey is a legendary makeup artist who works with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, so clearly she knows a thing or two about event prep. And because good makeup starts with good skin, Dempsey created products she could keep in her kit to use on her clients before makeup application, all of which now have a celeb cult-following.
The calming eye masks are formulated with anti-inflammatory prebiotics, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and soothing camelina and almond oils. Made with a bio-cellulose material that features two mesh linings, each mask is thoroughly soaked in the active ingredients and effectively delivers them to the delicate under-eye skin.
Prior to applying the under-eye area, Dempsey likes to place the hydrating eye masks in the freezer for a few minutes. Then they become a “highly effective under-eye depuffer,” she says. Once applied, you’re supposed to leave the eye masks for 10 to 15 minutes; they’re super silky but won’t slip or slide. After, the eye appear will appear refreshed and brighter.

To boost the benefits of Jillian Dempsey’s eye masks, she recommends using them with the Paltrow-approved gold bar. According to Dempsey, she doesn’t do a job without first using this skin-sculpting tool. Made with 24k gold, the bar vibrates at 6000 pulsations per minute to help relax the muscles, depuff the skin, boost blood circulation, and contour the facial features. The result: a tighter and more toned appearance.

In addition to her skincare staples, Paltrow also revealed that she is a big fan of infrared saunas. “I use my infrared sauna almost daily, but this is a must before any event,” she wrote on her Instagram story. Infrared saunas use infrared energy to heat the body from the inside out, which has been shown to help unclog pores, improve blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and boost collagen and elastin.
And while having an infrared sauna in your house isn’t an option for most people, there are other ways to reap the skin benefits of IR energy. Infrared sauna treatments are often available at health clubs, spas, or in doctor’s offices. However, if there isn’t one in your area, you can purchase a portable option, like this one from Amazon, or an infrared blanket. Paltrow is a fan of Higherdose’s Infrared Sauna Blanket V3, which is sold on her site goop.com.
And there you have it, folks: the secret to Gwyneth Paltrow’s refreshed red carpet face. We have to assume that while prepping for a big event, she also lights her vagina-scented candle, because that would be very on brand for her.
