With salons closed across the country, some women are embracing their root regrowth while others are trying their hands at box color. Well, it seems Hilary Duff is in the latter camp, having undergone a major hair transformation at home. Over the weekend, the actress ditched her signature blonde strands and debuted a bright, aqua blue bob.
On Sunday, she shared a photo of her playful new look on Instagram and captioned the post with a simple, “ ♀️ yea.” Check it out:

Later that evening, Duff joined her husband Matthew Koma as he performed on Instagram Live for his followers. Her brand new blue hair was pulled back in a ponytail while they sang a Third Eye Blind song together.
Koma also revealed that he was responsible for the dye job during the live-stream. “I also dyed her hair. I do a lot of stuff around the house,” he said. Judging from Duff's Instagram, it appears she got a haircut earlier in the week, too, though it's unclear if her hubby was behind that as well.
Whatever the case, it seems like Duff had been considering the change and may have even consulted her hairstylist before coloring her hair blue. “Yep! You did it!” hairstylist Nikki Lee commented with a heart eyes emoji.

Duff isn't the only star switching up their look while self-quarantining during the coronavirus crisis, either. Elle Fanning dyed her hair a coral color, Taraji P. Henson went with a rich red hue, and Jennifer Love Hewitt tried out a hot pink shade.
Will these hair transformations outlast the pandemic? We doubt it. But if reaching for the box dye helps brighten your day right now, we say go for it. Hilary Duff certainly seems happy with her blue hair — and her fans are, too! “She's convincing me I can pull it off,” one wrote.
