It’s no wonder why Jennifer Lopez has one of the most-searched celebrity skincare routines. At 52 years old, her skin is free of wrinkles, age spots, and sagging. Not to mention she’s still got that signature glow. So, what’s her secret? Last week, J.Lo walked fans through her morning skincare routine — and it’s much simpler than we would’ve imagined it to be. In fact, it’s only three steps!
In a video posted to Instagram on July 22, Lopez welcomed her followers into her bathroom where she shared the skincare products she uses when getting ready in the morning. “I’m breaking down my real AM routine for you so you know exactly how I get THAT glow (ps coffee and H2O are always a must),” she wrote in the caption. Still wearing her pajamas and drinking a cup of coffee, the bare-faced star explained that the scene was not staged as she pointed to a lineup of products from her own brand, JLo Beauty.
Step one: Cleansing her skin with That Hit Single Gel-Cream Cleanser, which uses glycolipids to lift away pore-clogging residue and leave skin feeling fresh and refined. “The morning cleanse is really important to set your face for the entire day,” she said, adding that this takes off any excess oil, dirt or makeup leftover from the night before. The result? “An extra clean feeling, but in a healthy way,” she said. “I am in love with this cleanser. I use it everyday.”
Lopez goes on to share the second step in her morning routine, which is the That JLo Glow Serum. Describing it as a “glow in the bottle,” she claimed this is the secret to her radiant complexion. “This is the secret ingredient — 21 iterations of this to get it right,” she said of the serum, which features the brand’s proprietary olive oil complex as well as Japanese rice sake ferment. “’People go, how do I get that glow, how do I get that glow? That I could put it in a bottle and say, ‘here, here it is!’”
The video shows Lopez massaging four pumps of the serum all over her face, then down her neck and around her eyes, while comparing the process to taking vitamins for your skin. “As you see, as it dries here, which you should let this serum dry, it’s already giving me a beautiful glow,” she said as she moved her head to show her cheeks and forehead reflecting the light.
Lopez then moved onto her final step in her morning skincare routine: sunscreen. “From the time you are very, very young, you have to wear sunscreen,” she said to the camera. “That is probably one of the biggest things that I did from a very young age that helped preserve my skin.” Reaching for That Big Screen Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 30, a multitasking moisturizer, she applied a big scoop to her face.
“As you can see, it doesn’t leave a white cast. It was designed and developed to be able to be used every single day, under your makeup as a moisturizer,” she continued, adding once the sunscreen dried down, “You can already see that my skin is looking pretty glowy and radiant. I don’t have a filter on this video. This is just natural light coming in from outside.”
In addition to the three products she applies every morning, Lopez said that she takes one of her That Inner Love Supplements. These skin-friendly supplements contain 12 essential vitamins and minerals, including antioxidant-rich vitamins A, C and E, 4 B vitamins, collagen-building copper, manganese, and hydrating olive fruit extract. “Skincare is an inside job,” she said as she popped a capsule. “Beauty from the inside out is one of our models at JLo Beauty, and that is spiritually, emotionally, metaphorically, but also really, really practically.”
And while the 52-year-old superstar’s simple skincare routine may seem to good to be true, the proof is in the pudding. JLo has an undeniable glow after finishing the three steps.
