Kaitlyn Bristowe is the latest in celebrities coming forward with their struggles mentally and trying to find a happy medium between stardom and privacy.
Dealing with Struggle
The Bachelorette alum posted an update on February 8th, tearfully admitting, “I finally cracked.”
In the caption, she added, “It’s been a hard few weeks. And I have been really hard on myself on top of it all.”
Along with her vulnerable photo, Bristowe also shared a brief glimpse into her many inconveniences leading to the emotional breakdown. This includes a nail in one of her car’s tires, a selfie at the doctor’s office, and a candle smashed on the ground.
Along with the photos was a lengthier caption, with Bristowe writing, “Humor helps, and I believe I have been handling a lot with grace, but…I have to be honest. I’m feeling really down, challenged, stuck, and hard on myself. I just had the most epic breakdown. Not looking for sympathy, just sharing. I’ll come out of it.”
Just two days before the February 8th posts, Kaitlyn Bristowe shared another discouraging yet humorous glimpse into her troubles. The Canadian native was dancing in her post, alongside the caption: “When border control quietly deducts 10 days from your work visa and now you’re forced to leave the country. Jazz hands anyway.”
To finish it all off, Bristowe adds, “And I just got my power back. See you soon Toronto. Missing a wedding and 8 podcasts, but if anyone needs me I’ll be dancing through the curveball.”
With all of her mishaps in such a short time frame, the support is pouring out from fans.
One posted, “You always make the best out of a s***ty situation.”
Another commented, “Omg you poor thing. I love you for your attitude though.”
Updates on Love Life
Of course, Kaitlyn Bristowe has always been quite open with her fans about her situation and feelings.
Back in April, she gave a rare update on her dating life after a broken four-year engagement with Jason Tartick in 2023.
The star told People, “Honestly, I’ve been protecting my peace the most that I ever have in my life. And that’s opened up some really beautiful doors for beautiful humans to enter, and I’m really happy where I’m at.”
Learning to Keep Some Things Private
Why is her recent relationship update so rare?
While the Bachelorette star is used to wearing her heart on her sleeve, including the current statuses of her relationships, Kaitlyn Bristowe has been trying to better balance privacy with honesty.
“I’ve always been a little too comfortable speaking out about my whole life, so I am trying to reel it in,” she said to People. “I try and speak my truth while also reflecting and holding myself accountable for things as well, because I do think that’s also part of vulnerability.”
While she did speak about “beautiful humans” entering her life, we probably won’t be getting any official relationship news anytime soon.
In an interview with Us Weekly in August 2025, the reality star decided to keep her love life out of the limelight. “Privacy is so hot, like, I am turned on by being private. There’s something really special and sacred about it.”
She added, “Obviously, I had two very public relationships, and I’m an over-sharer and an open book, and it’s very hard to not share certain things of my life, but it feels so right. Relationships from Bachelor franchise or people online, like, it starts to feel a bit performative at times. And I feel like that was where it was going for me last time, and it did not feel good.”
Bristowe seems to be referring to her two past engagements: one with Shawn Booth, whom she met as the Bachelorette and was with for three years, and the other with Jason Tartick, a Bachelorette contestant whose engagement ended in August 2023.
Hopefully, Bristowe will get a bit of a break in her personal life after her recent struggles and continue to find joy in her more private lifestyle.
