It’s been 20 years since the sex tape of Kim Kardashian and her ex Ray-J was leaked, and while she has successfully moved on with her life – starring in one of longest running reality television shows, launching a multi-billion dollar beauty and fashion empire, going to law school, and becoming a mother – it seems she is once again being taunted by the scandal. In a recent interview with Hollywood Unlocked, Kanye West claimed he obtained unreleased footage from Ray J, leading to speculation that a second sex tape exists.
“After I went and got the laptop from Ray J myself that night and then got on a red-eye – I met this man at the airport and got on a red-eye, came back, delivered it to her at 8 a.m. in the morning,” West said during the interview. “And then, I gave it to her, and she cried when she saw it. You know why she cried when she saw the laptop? ‘Cause it represents how much she’s been used. It represents how much people didn’t love her and they just saw her as a commodity.”
He added that Kim is “the most transacted-upon being other than Santa Claus or Jesus Christ.”
However, Kim’s lawyer firmly stated that claims of a second sex tape are “unequivocally false.” And in a statement to People, Kim’s rep responded: “After review, there was nothing sexual unseen, only footage on the plane on the way to Mexico and footage at a club and restaurant on the same trip. Kim remains firm in her belief that there is no new second tape that exists.”
The statement continued: “After 20 years, she truly wishes to move on from this chapter with focus instead on the positive things she continues to do as a mother, entrepreneur, and advocate for justice reform.” It’s fair that Kim wants to move on from the sex tape scandal and focus on other things, and to be clear, it is never okay share such footage without one’s consent.
As sources pointed out to TMZ, the continued conversation isn’t good for her and West’s children either, “especially when it’s continued to be brought up in a way that’s thoughtless and intended to cause more pain.” Kim and West share four children together, North (8), Chicago (6), Psalm (4), and Saint (2).
As for the status of their relationship? Kim officially filed for divorce in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage. Though they both seem to be moving on – Kim is reportedly dating Pete Davidson while West has been linked to Julia Fox – their relationship since the split has been strained with issues including coparenting their children.
“We not going full Will and Jada [Smith] because everybody got problems on both sides and it don’t need to be aired out. … Certain things, it’s just not finna happen, I’m gonna step up,” West said in the Hollywood Unlocked interview.
