Finding a quick, high-protein breakfast that also tastes good can be a challenge. That’s why I was excited to try Naked Nutrition’s Cinnamon Roll Protein Oats, a mix of gluten-free oats and whey protein designed to be both nutritious and convenient.

Each serving packs 20 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber, making it a filling option for busy mornings. It can be made as overnight oats or blended into a protein shake, offering versatility depending on your preference.

The big question is whether it actually tastes good. And does it live up to my excitement? I put it to the test to find out.

First Impressions

When I first came across Naked Nutrition’s Cinnamon Roll Protein Oats, I was really excited. The idea of combining oatmeal with protein powder sounded like the perfect quick, nutritious, and filling breakfast. As a busy parent, I’m always looking for ways to make mornings easier without sacrificing good nutrition, and this seemed like a great option.

Packaging & Ingredients

Right away, I liked the simple and transparent packaging. You can actually see the oats inside the container, which makes it feel fresh and natural. The label is straightforward, with all the important details about protein, fiber, and ingredients listed clearly. I also appreciated that the container is BPA-free and recyclable, which is a nice bonus for those trying to be more eco-friendly.

Then, I checked the ingredient list, and it looked really clean, gluten-free oats, whey protein, chia protein, cinnamon, sea salt, and a natural sweetener from fermented cane sugar. No artificial flavors, no added junk. I liked that the brand kept things simple, which usually means better quality and fewer unnecessary additives.

Expectations Before Trying It

I was expecting a thick, hearty, and slightly sweet oatmeal with a warm cinnamon flavor, something like a protein-packed version of a cinnamon roll. Since each serving has 20 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber, I was hoping it would keep me full for hours without needing a mid-morning snack.

Preparation and Texture

Making Naked Nutrition’s Cinnamon Roll Protein Oats is super easy, which is great for busy mornings. The package suggests two ways to prepare it:

  1. Overnight Oats: Mix 2 scoops with 8 oz of milk (or your favorite milk substitute). Stir well and put it in the fridge for at least 5 hours or overnight. By morning, it should be ready to eat!
  2. Protein Shake: Mix 2 scoops with 6-12 oz of water or milk and blend for 15-20 seconds. This makes a quick and filling drink.

I went for the overnight oats route initially but found the texture to be too thin and runny for my taste. It didn’t thicken up as much as I expected. To fix this, I added one more scoop of oats and then warmed it up while stirring. This made it thicker, warmer, and more like traditional oatmeal.

This is the way I continued to use the product after, so take note, if you like a thicker consistency with your oatmeal.

My husband tried the second method of preparation and made a protein shake, blending it with almond milk, bananas, and ice. He liked it that way, and it seemed to mix well as a smoothie each time he tried this combination.

Overall, it’s an easy product to use, and the fact you can customize it to your own preference, without it going wrong, is fantastic. You can even customize the taste (see below).

The Taste Test

When I first tried Naked Nutrition’s Cinnamon Roll Protein Oats, here’s what I noticed:

Sweetness & Cinnamon Flavor

These oats have a very strong cinnamon flavor, which makes sense, but they’re also way sweeter than I expected. If you like a dessert-like breakfast, this might be great, but for me, it was a little too much.

Aftertaste and Why It Happens

After eating, I noticed a slight chemical aftertaste. This could be from the fermented cane sugar (Reb M), a natural sweetener used in the oats. While it helps keep the sugar content low, it does leave a bit of an unusual taste.

How to Balance the Flavor and Aftertaste

To make the oats taste better for me, I mixed them with plain oatmeal, but I’ve read that others mix them with oat bran and chia seeds to balance out the flavor. As I added extra oatmeal, it toned down the sweetness and made it taste far better. It even removed the aftertaste. If you don’t like really sweet oats, you might want to mix them with something plain too.

Overall, these oats tasted okay once balanced to my palette, and my husband had no complaints about how they tasted in a shake.

Final Thoughts

After trying Naked Nutrition’s Cinnamon Roll Protein Oats, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s high in protein and fiber, made with clean ingredients, and easy to prepare. On the other hand, the texture and sweetness might not work for everyone without a few adjustments.

Taste & Texture Recap

  • Taste: The strong cinnamon flavor is nice, but the sweetness level is high, and there’s a slight aftertaste.
  • Texture: When made as overnight oats, the consistency was too thin at first. Adding an extra scoop and warming it up helped make it thicker and more enjoyable.

Who Would Like This?

  • People who enjoy sweet oatmeal with a strong cinnamon flavor
  • Busy individuals who want a quick, high-protein breakfast
  • Those who like protein shakes, it mixes well into smoothies too
  • Anyone who doesn’t mind tweaking the texture or taste to fit their preference

Would I Buy It Again?

I appreciate the nutrition and convenience, but I would likely only try it again if I planned to mix it with plain oatmeal or use it in smoothies. If you enjoy sweet, protein-packed oats and don’t mind adjusting the consistency, it could be a great fit. But if you prefer a less sweet, thicker oatmeal, you might need to experiment a little to make it work for you.
