Let’s start by saying Zoë Kravitz can pull off any hairstyle. From her super-short, choppy pixie cut to long locs, the actress looks effortlessly cool no matter how her hair is styled. Lately, she’s even been trying out some trendier styles, like antenna fringe and Bantu knots. But it’s her latest look that made us do a double take.

For The Batman premiere in London on February 23, Kravitz, who stars as Catwoman, debuted a style of bangs we’ve never seen before: super-short and side-swept. Similar to baby bangs, they hit halfway down her forehead, but what makes these unique is the their asymmetrical angle that starts lower on the forehead and extends up and away from the eyebrow. Traditional side-swept styles taper down the forehead toward the corner of the eye, whereas these do just the opposite.

But while it sounds strange, somehow, Kravitz still looks good — more than good actually, she looks stunning. The rest of Kravitz’s hair is pulled back into a slick bun, purposely drawing attention to her forehead. In doing so, the bold bangs beautifully emphasize her facial features, including her defined jawline, contoured cheekbones, and subtle cat-eye. She paired the look with minimal makeup (her signature) and a black Saint Laurent gown with sexy underboob cut-outs.

Check it out below. Nikki Nelms, the hairstylist behind Kravitz’s red carpet look, posted a few photos to her Instagram feed.

However, it turns out this is no new cut. Footage from the film’s press tour on a later date shows that Kravitz does, in fact, have baby bangs. As you can see in the video below, her fringe is styled more traditionally — short, choppy, and straight across her forehead.

Kravitz isn’t the only celebrity with bold bangs, either. With countless variations on the style, a number of celebrities are opting for less traditional looks. Just last week, Kristen Stewart debuted bottleneck bangs. Before her, came Rowan Blanchard’s arched bangs, Emma Watson’s super-baby bangs, and Megan Fox’s retro fringe.

All this to say that if you are considering bangs, there are so many cool options to choose from.
