There’s a new trend descending on Hollywood led by Gwyneth Paltrow and Halle Berry: infrared saunas.

The newest trend turns up the heat in celebrities’ wellness routines, leading their fans to flock to similar routines to keep their bodies in healthy shape.

Infrared Sauna Craze and Benefits

Multiple A-list celebrities with huge wellness followings have praised using infrared saunas to keep their bodies happy and healthy. Renewed media attention for the trend appeared in January 2026, with several celebrities sharing how the sauna helps them.

Looking at the bigger picture, infrared saunas do have several health benefits. These include enhanced detoxification, improved circulation, pain relief, and cardiovascular support. This translates into muscle recovery, stress reduction, better sleep, and improved skin health.

See how infrared saunas benefit each of these prominent celebrities.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow has long been a lover of infrared saunas, which she uses every day.

In a 2020 interview with W magazine, she claimed, “For me, wellness has always been about a lot of sleep, hydration, exercise, sweating (I sit in an infrared sauna daily), walking and eating nutrient-dense foods.”

The actress even has a Clearlight Infrared Sauna in her Montecito home. “We’ll take an infrared heat fix anywhere we can get it,” Gwyneth Paltrow wrote on her Goop Blog. “But having a sauna right at home is the real dream.”

“I do infrared sauna as often as I can,” she added. “I walk out feeling so much more relaxed, and glowy, too.”

The sauna helps her detox, relax, and improve her skin health, leaving her rejuvenated for another day.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry has posted several times on Instagram with her experiences in saunas.

One was a spa day, including a sauna session with the caption, “And then we spa! Taking care of my body. It’s the only place I have to live.”

She has also exercised in a sauna suit, which Berry claimed helps with ab and heat training. For Berry, the sauna helps with her muscle recovery, detox, and skin health.

Cindy Crawford

Insanely famous supermodel Cindy Crawford uses infrared saunas and even owns one, as regular sessions are essential to her wellness routine.

In an interview, Crawford told Byrdie, “I try to go into an infrared sauna for 20 minutes at least once a week. Before I invested in my own, I just went to a local tanning salon that also had an infrared sauna — my homeopathic doctor suggested I get one because it’s good for detoxing.”

She elaborated on her experience with infrared, saying, “It’s not like a normal sauna, which can be harsh. Instead, infrared is a super gentle, soothing, and therapeutic heat that helps me relax and improves my sleep (and we all know how much I value sleep). It also works somewhat like a Japanese hot spring in that it stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles, improve overall skin tone, and improve circulation.”

Julianne Hough

Julianne Hough combines infrared saunas and cold plunge contrast therapy to keep her body in tip-top shape. She has shared several posts on Instagram, relaxing in bikinis while in the sauna.

Hough also delves into the cold plunge world, also known as an ice bath. Also known as contrast therapy, switching between hot and cold temperatures helps stimulate circulation and reduce inflammation.

In the caption, Hough wrote, “I’ve been doing ice baths since 2015 when I was touring the country on stage for 2.5 hrs almost every night. In 2014, I had the worst neck injury the whole tour that I just couldn’t fathom the pain and pure survival mode again verses being able to fully enjoy being on stage night after night. So I committed and never looked back!”

She uses both of these methods, combined with stretching and Pilates moves, during sauna sessions to keep her body primed for performance demands.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has a more medically-centered reason for using infrared saunas. They help her soothe pesky muscle spasms and pain caused by fibromyalgia. Gaga has been open with her struggles with fibromyalgia, posting some of her “personal remedies” for easing symptoms.

In a post of herself in the sauna, she wrote: “When my body goes into a spasm one thing I find really helps is infrared sauna.” She continued to write, “I combine this treatment with marley silver emergency blankets (seen in the photo) that trap in the heat and are very cheap, reusable and effective for detox as well as weight loss! … Hope this helps some of you, it helps me to keep doing my passion, job and the things I love even on days when I feel like I can’t get out of bed.”

Gaga finishes her sauna routine with a cold bath, ice bath, or reusable cold packs to cool down her body.
