Jennifer Aniston is switching from a grueling workout routine to a 30-minute workout plan she claims is a central piece of staying strong and fit in her 50s.
However, the actress is now receiving criticism for her “sustainable and realistic” workout, with many arguing that genetics, access to trainers or better food, and financial resources play a significant role when it comes to being healthy.
While you can get fit without all the extra supplements and trainers, many are put off by Aniston’s ignorance about her status compared to her fans.
Aniston’s Switch
Jennifer Aniston used to prize 45 minutes of “hardcore cardio” when working out. However, after years of running or boxing to train her body, she switched to something gentler.
Pvolve is the newest trend Aniston is following. The low-impact workout focuses on building strength through functional movements.
During an interview with Women’s Health, she commented, “You can get as efficient, if not better, of a workout by doing a 30-minute class.”
Aniston uses a combination of Pvolve and her trainer, Dani Coleman, to keep her strength and longevity at peak fitness.
She adds, “Muscle supports our skeleton. As we get older and lose muscle mass, our bones can become brittle [and result in osteoporosis]. A leading cause of injury in the elderly community is falling and breaking a bone because they are so brittle and don’t have the support of strong muscles—we want to avoid that.”
Prized Core Workouts
Since Pvolve works on functional movement, many of the exercises target the core muscles.
Coleman shared that, “The core is the foundation to your body and every movement to transfer power from the lower to the upper half. A strong core is not only for performance but also for everyday life.”
However, this doesn’t mean you have to do hundreds of crunches. Instead, full-body exercises can work out your whole core and leave you feeling stronger.
Some of Coleman’s favorite core workouts to give Jennifer Aniston are dead bugs, the farmer’s carry, single-leg deadlift, wood chop, and plank.
Fitness Controversy
While this workout may be perfect for Jennifer Aniston, many have doubts.
Critics who are concerned often bring up a few key points. These include simplified advice vs complex reality, inspiration vs unrealistic comparison, and marketing influences in the wellness world.
In reality, everyone’s bodies are different and will respond to the same workout differently. That also doesn’t cover the fact that Aniston has access to personal trainers, high-tech workout gear, and healthy food due to her success as an actress.
Many who want to be fit don’t have access to these components, making a 30-minute workout not as applicable.
Finding What Works for You
It should be noted that Jennifer Aniston’s comments do have truth backed by science: consistent strength training in short or long sessions can benefit long-term health.
However, experts and critics caution against assuming all celebrity workouts or routines will work until you factor in genetics, lifestyle, recovery, and resources.
The biggest takeaway is about finding a routine you like, and catering it to your body and staying consistent.
