Kate Beckinsale is one of those actresses who seems to age in reverse. At 47 years old, her skin is wrinkle-free and has a youthful glow — but believe it or not, she says that she has never had Botox or any other cosmetic procedures.

“My family are generally on the younger-looking side,” Beckinsale told the Sunday Times in a new interview, joking that even her 9-year-old dog still looks like a puppy. All jokes aside, the English actress went on to say that she gets annoyed when people assume she has had work done.

“I haven’t had any!” she said, referring to wrinkle-erasing injectables like Botox. “I’m not against people having it. [But] I do get pissed off. It’s sort of a given that I’ve had it, which I just literally haven’t.” Instead, she credits her youthful appearance to good genes, staying fit, and a solid skincare routine.

As for why the Underworld star has decided to skip out on the injectable trend? It’s simple — she’s scared. “I’m frightened of paralyzing my face,” she admitted to the Sunday Times, adding that her 76-year-old mother, Judy Leo, is partly to blame for her fear.

Beckinsale continued: “My mum’s voice is in my head, very loud, at all times. My mum wouldn’t even get a facial, she is suspicious of anything like that, and looks f***ing radiant and amazing. I know if I did do Botox, I’d be the one that would get the droopy eye, and my mum would go, ‘I f***ing told you! See? You should never do that.’”

However, Beckinsale isn’t afraid of all injectables. In fact, she revealed in the interview that she’s a big fan of platelet-rich plasma injections (PRP), otherwise known as the vampire facial. “I do like PRP, when they take your blood [plasma and reinject it into your skin], ” she says. “That’s a real thing, from your own body. But not with scary poisonous things!”

The treatment, which more specifically involves extracting platelet rich plasma from your blood and reinjecting it back into your skin, has been shown to stimulate the renewal of fresh skin cells and boost the production of collagen and elastin for plumper, firmer skin.

And while the actress is all about aging naturally, she admits that it’s complicated — especially given the pressure society places on women in Hollywood to look a certain way. “I think, when you start out, if people perceive you as attractive, it’s helpful at first,” she said. “If people start thinking that’s your main thing, I don’t think that’s helpful to anyone, least of all you.

Beckinsale continued: “I think women are damned anyway. I don’t just mean actresses. You’re seen as attractive, you’re not seen as attractive. You’re seen as too young, you’re too old. Where is the f—king sweet spot for women? At some point you just have to go, b—tch — this is me.’”
