Kelly Osbourne has lost a lot of weight recently in the wake of her father, Ozzy Osbourne’s, death.
While her friends are concerned but understanding, many have taken to social media to call out Kelly’s thinner frame. She snapped back at social media users, asking for compassion during this difficult time.
Friends Concerned
It’s been a little over seven months since Ozzy Osbourne passed away, and many within Kelly’s inner circle believe her weight loss is tied to her grief.
Friends close to her are concerned about the amount of weight she’s shed, but they understand she’s grieving and are giving her grace since it’s part of her grieving process.
Other sources claim Kelly Osbourne is aware of how she looks, but trying to focus on her new appearance is difficult while still battling her grief of losing her father. This includes keeping her body at a healthy weight, as she’s not eating.
Another source told Daily Mail that, “Sharon seems in a much better place. But it’s clear Kelly is still dealing with a lot of grief.”
Kelly Snaps Back
While Kelly’s weight loss is rooted in grief, it hasn’t stopped people from going to social media and body-shaming her. After a while, Kelly snapped back at her online critics.
On her Instagram story, she posted, “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something.”
She added, “Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.”
She goes on to write that this is the “hardest time in [her] life” and that she shouldn’t have to be going on social media to defend her current body image.
A few days prior to Kelly Osbourne posting her feelings online, she reshared a shocking comment she received online that said she “looks like a de*d body… She’s tooooo thin and fragile… Looks like she’s going to see her dad soon.”
Alongside the screenshot, Kelly wrote, “Literally can’t believe how disgusting some human beings truly are! No one deserves this sort of ab*se!”
Comments like this have been flying for a while now, with Kelly Osbourne addressing other posts all the way back in December.
“To the people who keep thinking they’re being funny and mean by writing comments like ‘Are you ill,’ or Get off Oz*mpic, you don’t look right.’ My dad just d*ed.”
Grief and Weight Loss
Grief often takes many forms, including causing significant and unintentional weight loss.
This is due to a diminished appetite, high stress, and distraction. Emotional distress due to loss can also make eating feel nearly impossible or low priority.
While many deal with this weight loss, the stress becomes heightened for celebrities, who must face the litany of cameras and fans commenting on their weight, just like Kelly Osbourne.
